Column-Level Lineage

Column-level lineage lets you trace individual fields — not just tables — as they move through your data pipelines. Use it to understand exactly where a column comes from, how it’s transformed, and what depends on it. Collate generates column-level lineage automatically when you run the Lineage Agent. You can also edit it manually to capture any relationships that aren’t automatically detected.

Manually Edit Column-Level Lineage

Edit column-level lineage directly in the Collate UI — no ingestion required.

1. Open the Lineage tab on a table page.
2. Click the Edit icon in the top right corner.
3. Use the anchor points on either side of a column to draw connections to other columns.
4. To trace a column from a table not already in the graph, add the table first, then connect its columns.
