# How to Change the Team Type
> Learn how to change team types to modify access levels and permissions for improved role-based collaboration and enterprise access control.
# Change Team Type
Refer to [**Team Structure in Collate**](/ai-2-0/admin-guide/teams-and-users/team-structure-openmetadata) for a full explanation of each team type and its position in the hierarchy.
**Note**: The **Group** team type cannot be changed after a team is created. All other team types (Business Unit, Division, Department) can be changed at any time.
**To change the team type:**
1. Select the **Profile** icon, and navigate to **Settings** > **Team & User Management** > **Teams**.
2. Select the team whose type you want to change.
3. Select the **Edit** icon next to the **Team** header.
4. Select a new team type from the dropdown and click **Save**.
