# Change Your Password | Collate Admin Guide

> Change the password of your own Collate account from the Profile page when your organization uses basic authentication.

# Change Your Password

Change your own password from your **Profile** page.

<Note>
  The **Change Password** row appears only when your organization uses basic authentication and you are viewing your own profile. With SSO (SAML, OIDC, Google, and others), your identity provider manages your password and the row is hidden.
</Note>

## Steps

1. Click the **Profile** icon and select your user name.
2. In the **Account** group, click **Profile**.
3. In the **Security** section, click **Change Password**.
4. Enter the following:
   * **Current Password**: Your existing password.
   * **New Password**: The password you want to use.
   * **Confirm New Password**: The same new password. If the two don't match, Collate flags the field.
5. Click **Update Password**. Click **Cancel** to discard your changes.

## Password Rules

A strength meter and a checklist show which rules your new password still needs to meet. **Update Password** stays unavailable until every rule passes and both new password fields match.

* **Length**: 8 to 56 characters, with no spaces.
* **Case**: Upper and lowercase letters.
* **Number**: At least one number.
* **Symbol**: At least one symbol.
