# Create Personas
> Learn how to create and configure personas in Collate to tailor the platform interface and functionality for roles like data engineers, stewards, and scientists.
# Overview
In Collate, a **persona** represents an organization's specific role or function, such as a **data engineer**, **data steward**, or **data scientist**. Personas define how the user interacts with the platform by tailoring the interface and functionality to their role.
**Example**:
* A **data engineer** might focus on pipelines and data quality.
* A **data steward** is more concerned with governance and glossary management.
## Create a Persona
1. Select the **Profile** icon and navigate to **Settings** > **Personas**.
2. Click **Add Persona**.
3. Fill in the following details and click **Create**:
* **Name** (required) — Unique identifier for the persona.
* **Display Name** — Human-friendly name shown in the UI.
* **Description** — Brief description of the persona's role or purpose.
* **Users** — Click **+** to assign users to this persona.
